Joel Weber is planning to graduate from university debt-free. The 25-year-old saves money on room and board by designing his tiny home. Weber spent a year building his 145-square-foot house, which is also mobile. He designed the home and spent $20,000 to build it. A carpenter and electrician volunteered their services.
“I saved up quite a bit, and what I didn’t have, family, friends, and the community around me donated materials,” says Weber. The design major at the University of Texas hopes to build more simple living houses that are also sustainable. He seems to be on the right track.
