Lima-based practice Longhi Architects completed the 389 m² Casa CC Project in 2010. The 4,190 square-foot contemporary beach house is located on Misterio beach, 72 miles (117 kilometers) South of Lima, Peru.
Casa CC By Longhi Architects:
“Hard and soft connected by light. Two volumes crown the top of a hill at Playa Misterio, a gated beach community of 117 Km. South of Lima. One cube built with exposed concrete comes from the earth, while the second one, located 2.40m away, is made from glass and appears to be “floating” on the site.
The “concrete block” houses the social area of the dwelling in its lower levels and the primary bedroom at the top. The “glass block” accommodates the children’s area on two levels.
The space between the blocks is occupied by a staircase designed as a series of sculptural elements that connect the rigid appearance of concrete to the soft look of glass, provoking a light and shadow effect as the sun visits the house during different hours of the day.”
