Founded by Yair Alony and Meny Hilsenrad, Studio Aiko is a dynamic studio specializing in various CG content and visual effects. The Desert Villa is their first attempt to merge “the magical scenery of the desert with the modern architecture of a villa. They took the idea forward in a mysterious & humoristic way.”
In the middle of the desert is an unusual place to build a modern villa with an unusual roof shape. However, it has no neighbors, roaring cars, and an astonishing view from the full-glass windows.
Don’t be fooled; this dream home doesn’t exist, but the animation is fantastic, especially with a headset on!
The Desert Villa By Studio Aiko:
The desert villa project By Studio Aiko was an interior and exterior visualization for an architecture office called “Winestein Vaadia Architects.” The client’s general brief was to create peaceful and calm surroundings for the villas. This desert scene was our first attempt to merge the magical scenery with a villa’s modern architecture. In addition to the client’s stills frames we supplied the client, we wanted to take the idea a step forward in a mysterious & humorous way (see video).
The most challenging task was to create a believable surrounding terrain with rocks and sand to achieve a realistic look. We used different scatter techniques on rocks and vegetation, which caused us lots of RAM peaks. For the setup of this scene, we used a V-Ray sun and a physical camera. This gave us great results for the exterior shots. The final achievement of the feel and mood was done with the post-work, which gave a subtle and calm mood. V-Ray displacement gave us the ability to create detailed terrain and rock fences. It required some extra RAM, so we needed to work smart and optimize every step of our work.
