The Sublime Samana feels like a remote getaway, set on a peninsula where tall leaning palms encircle a white, powder sand beach that meets turquoise waters. The hotel is within an hour’s drive of natural sights, including the El Limon waterfalls, a boat ride away for whale watching between January and March, and boat trips to the picturesque north coast beaches. Its location also places it near one of the Dominican Republic’s most loved beach towns, Las Terrenas, and guests can hop on a 10-minute shuttle service to explore it.
It is a 30-minute drive from Samana’s El Catey International Airport. The Santo Domingo airport is 100 miles away, a two-hour drive.
Style and Character

This u-shaped hotel is sprawled against palm trees with lush garden paths and whitewashed casitas. Antonio Segundo Imbert, one of the country’s most notable architects, designed the property. A tropical feeling is apparent through artwork and pieces that reflect Caribbean nature, including woven chandeliers, wood furniture with soft white cushions, whitewashed walls, hand-carved furniture, shell artwork, pebbled floor mosaics, and coral and marble surfaces. The dramatically designed pool area in the heart of the property impresses with its overwater canopied lounge beds spaced along two long plunge pool lanes.
